Iceland Flag

Adopted in 1915, each of the colors of the Iceland flag depict a major feature of the nation's geography.  The blue represents the Atlantic Ocean that surrounds Iceland, red symbolizes the fires of the nation's volcanoes, and white represents snow that covers much of the country.  The red cross is a symbol of Christianity and is also found on the flags of other Scandinavian countries.
